SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 314 REGULAR SCHOOL BOARD MEETING Isanti, Pine, Chisago & Kanabec CountiesMonday, February 25,2013 Braham, MN 550067:00 pm - BAHS Community Room The regular school board meeting was called to order by Chair Steve Eklund at 7:00 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was given. Members present: Steve Eklund, Max Eng, Tony Cuda, Zane Braund, Dan Klemz, Angie Flowers, Robert Hughes, and Supt. Gregory Winter. Members absent None. Motion by T. Cuda, second by Z. Braund to adopt the agenda as presented. Carried. Motion by D. Klemz, second by R. Hughes to approve the minutes of the January 28th Regular school board meeting; approve the February bills, $181,658.43; and accept the February Treasurer's report. Carried. The board reviewed the current enrollment analysis. Under Open Forum; Sup't. Winter introduced Senator Sean Nienow; who greeted school board members and the audience; followed by a brief discussion with the board. Superintendent Winter read a brief statement acknowledging the hard work and commitment of Braham's Board of Education members and presented each board member with a certificate honoring their service. Minnesota School Boards Association set February 18-22 as School Board Recognition Week in Minnesota as a time to build awareness and understanding of the vital function an elected Board of Education plays In our society. Sup't. Winter and the school board members thanked the Student Council for the 'appreciation' banner hanging in the boardroom to greet them as they arrived for their regular meeting. Student Council representative Shaun Hollencamp reviewed the written report. Many exciting events take place this time of the year, including Snow Daze activities and the "Pennies for Patients" fundraiser. Elementary Principal Jeff Eklund reviewed his written report. Mr. Eklund reported that the elementary MCA testing scores have improved significantly in the last year. He shared a schedule of February's activities surrounding 'I LOVE TO READ MONTH', as prepared by Tammi Johnson. Assistant Principal Judy Adams reviewed her written report; which included internet safety activities. Mrs. Adams wished to give a big "Thank You" to the student council members and Advisor Tammi Johnson for all they do to promote student moral in the school. High School Principal Justin Sawyer reviewed his written report, which included 7/8 practice Math MCA's, Resume and Interview Skills Workshop and Spec. Ed. Work Skills Project. Activities Director Tim Malone reviewed his written report, which included a review of recent activities and upcoming events. He reported on the upcoming Boys' Basketball Spring Training Trip to Florida. The board reviewed OTAS Officer Mike Thompson's written report. District Assessment Coordinator Joan Proza reviewed her written report. Community Education Director Cheryl Arnold reviewed her written report. Sup't Winter's report to the board included updates on recent meetings and conferences attended; which included Rum River Special Education Cooperative, ECMECC, East Central Workforce, and the Community Support meeting with Anoka/Ramsey Community College. Mr. Winter reviewed the results of a strategic planning survey that he developed and distributed at the March 20 Public Forum meeting. Board members reported on individual meetings and activities attended. Chair Eklund announced that Kayla Nickles has been selected as a State EXCEL Winner, "Congratulations Kayla". Motion by R.
