Slushy road conditions contributed to a head-on serious injury crash involving three vehicles around 11:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 25 on Hwy. 65 at 379th Avenue NE (between Grandy and Stanchfield), according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

A northbound Dodge Durango, driven by Lacinda M. Mulford, 21, of Cambridge, lost control in the slush, crossed the center line and hit head-on a southbound Lincoln Towncar driven by Elden E. Sievert, 78, of Grasston, before colliding with a third vehicle, also southbound.

Mulford was treated and released at 6 p.m. from Cambridge Medical Center. Sievert and passenger Constance F. Sievert, 72, received serious injuries, listed as “non-life threatening,” and were also transported to Cambridge Medical Center. The driver of the third vehicle, an Ford F150, was Randahl E. Larson, 26, of Grandy, who suffered minor injuries.

The State Patrol further reported that alcohol was not detected on any those impacted; seatbelts were used; and all vehicles, listed as “totalled,” were to towed to Leaf’s Towing and Recovery in Braham. The Isanti County Sheriff’s Office assisted the State Patrol.

Linda Gwin: Please drive carefully....
FYI
Al Sievert passed away this week. He never recovered from his "non-life threatening injuries sustained in this accident. His funeral was today. We know Al is in heaven, but he will be missed very much. This is all so senseless...the driver of the vehicle who hit them head was driving without a license...
