A 19-year-old Isanti man has been charged in connection with a sexual assault alleged to have happened at a residence in the Dalbo area Oct. 26.

A Mora police officer was called to Kanabec County Hospital in Mora Oct. 27 where a 16-year-old female was in the Emergency Room for examination following a sexual assault the night before.

Once it was determined to have occurred in Isanti County, the investigation was turned over to Isanti County authorities.

The alleged victim described a male who had been with a small group of people socializing at the home, saying his name was “Allen” and he was a relative of another person at the gathering.

She told investigators she had grown tired during the evening and had lain down on a bed fully clothed. The woman said she awoke as she was being sexually assaulted and that “Allen” had refused to stop, had placed his hands around her throat to stop her screaming and had threatened her about telling anyone.

“Allen” was later identified as Allen Frank Poitra Jr. of Isanti. He was charged on a complaint warrant issued Nov. 9 on charges of 1st degree criminal sexual conduct and 3rd degree criminal sexual conduct, both felonies.

He appeared before Judge P. Hunter Anderson on Nov. 10 where bail was set at $30,000 without conditions or $15,000 with conditions, and his next court date set for Nov. 23.
