An argument between two friends turned deadly Oct. 20 leaving one man in critical condition in a St. Cloud hospital and another charged with felony assault.

The argument between the two men, who reportedly were long time friends, broke out shortly before 6 p.m. that night. When Pine County officers arrived at the residence on Royal Woods Road, they found Jeffrey John Huebner, 39, of rural Braham, bleeding from two bullet wounds to his side.

Huebner was transported to Kanabec County Hospital in Mora and then airlifted to St. Cloud where he remained in critical condition Monday, Oct. 26.

Arrested near the scene was Corey Michael Hecht, 32, of the Royal Woods Road address.

On Oct. 22 Hecht appeared before Pine County Judge James T. Reuter where he was formally charged with felony first degree assault-resulting in great bodily harm; felony second degree assault with a dangerous weapon and felony second degree assault resulting in substantial bodily harm.

Bail was set at $150,000 without conditions or $75,000 with conditions and his next court appearance for Oct. 30.
