The Cambridge-Isanti Bluejackets have been finding success on the football field as they pulled off their second straight win.
The Bluejackets defeated North Central Blue rival Chisago Lakes 33-24, when they hosted the Wildcats on Sept. 8.
The Wildcats opened the scoring with a field goal in the first quarter, but the Bluejackets and their committee of running backs bruised their way into the game with a 22-yard run from junior Kaden Slepica.
This Wildcats answered, but senior Alex Ledahl had a few tricks up his sleeve. When his team needed it most, Ledahl delivered a well-thrown lob to the end zone, and junior Luke Malamisuro went up to make a stellar catch in traffic.
Heading late into the third quarter, the Bluejackets found themselves trailing 24-14. Senior Jace Wilkinson took care of business, finding the end zone in both the third and fourth quarter, putting his team ahead 27-24.
A huge 89-yard run from Slepica sealed the deal and the Bluejackets sent the Wildcats packing.
This win gives the Bluejackets the same amount wins they had all of last season when they finished 2-7. This team has shown they can play tough, physical football on both sides of the ball.
The Bluejacket defense forced four fumbles against the Wildcats and recovered all of them.
Up next, the Bluejackets will travel to Rogers on Sept. 15 for some more North Central Blue action. Rogers is currently sitting at 0-2 with losses to Alexandria, and Andover.
