A Stanchfield man has died as a result of a motorcycle crash on Sunday, July 9.
According to a press release by the Isanti County Sheriff’s Office, on July 9, at 11:13 a.m., Isanti County Dispatch received a phone call reporting an overdue motorcyclist.
Deputies requested a cell phone ping and the cell phone provider gave a location within Maple Ridge Township.
At 12:16 p.m., while deputies were searching the area, one deputy located Paul Allan Johnston, 47, of Stanchfield, and his motorcycle near the intersection of 385th Avenue Northwest and Lily Street Northwest in Maple Ridge Township in rural Isanti County. Johnston was pronounced deceased at the scene.
During the preliminary investigation, it is believed Johnston was traveling eastbound on 385th Avenue Northwest when he failed to negotiate the curve in the roadway and struck a road sign. At this time it is unknown if there are any other factors contributing to the accident.
An autopsy will be performed to determine if there were other contributing factors as well as the official cause of death. The accident is still being investigated by Isanti County Sheriff’s Office.
