The Metro Minny season is well underway, and the Isanti Redbirds are off to a solid start.
On June 19, the Redbirds hosted the Shoreview Tar Heels for some Class B action.
The game started slow with two scoreless innings, thanks in part to pitcher James Green. The bats and the wheels came alive, as the Redbirds kicked off the third inning with a big rally.
Adding a few stolen bases along the way, the Redbirds posted five runs to take a commanding lead.
Things got a little scary in the top of the fourth, as Green allowed three runs before his defense helped him retire the side.
Green exited the game with eight strikeouts, and Brent Tholen came in to close. Only allowing one run, Tholen hung on for the save, and the Redbirds took the 6-4 win.
The Redbirds hit .389 as a team, including Nick Hoffman going three-for-three.
The win puts gives Isanti a two game win streak, and moves their record to 3-2 in league play, and 9-4 overall. They are currently 1.5 games back from the first-place Forest Lake Brewers.
