22nd annual Cambridge Softball Classic crown’s 4 champions
Men’s and women’s adult softball teams battled through heavy winds on Saturday and tough weather on Sunday to find four Champions in the tiered system at the 22nd annual Cambridge Softball Classic at Sandquist Family Park held June 9-11.
The Cash Concrete women’s squad from Fargo, North Dakota upended Schroeder’s Appliance of Brainerd, 14-12, in the women’s Tier one Championship.
The Free Agents from Minneapolis took third-place. In the women’s Tier two, Skittles, of Cold Spring, beat Hanson Acct. of Chisago County 17-2. JBF of Mpls./Chicago claimed the third place trophy. The Wanderoos Lions of Amery, Wisconsin were given the “Team Sportsmanship Award.”
In the men’s division, Minnesota Outkast of Cambridge won the Tier one championship with a 14-12 victory over CJ/s of Palmdale. Thompson Construction won third-place honors. In the Tier two bracket, the SOL Landsharks of Cambridge-Isanti beat ECT/Brad’s Cab 15-3 in the Championship game, with FLE getting third-place. The Riverbottom/VFW squad from Rush City were awarded the “Team Sportsmanship Award.”
