Even though a sunny weekend turned into a stormy headache for the 22 annual Men’s and Women’s Cambridge Softball Classic, the teams braved the storm and had a blast competing, bonding and listening to great music.

The stormy weather on June 11 caused the games to be modified to last only five innings. While the championship game was accidently extended to six innings, the “losing” team was fully reimbursed.

The final game was played between C.J.’s and Centra Sota. Centra Sota had a 5-2 lead in the fifth-inning and under the modified rules, should have won the game.

The umpire allowed the game to run into the sixth-inning, following the original 50-minute rule. C.J.’s was happy to see a sixth-inning after they put up five runs to pull ahead.

The next big event for the Cambridge-Isanti Area Softball Association will be the Cambridge-Isanti Competitive Baseball In-House Championships. The age brackets are 8u, 10u and 12u. The In-House Championships will be held June 23-25.
