John Herubin

John Chester Herubin passed away on June 7, 2017, at Aicota Nursing home in Aitkin at the age of 79 years. He was born on August 11, 1937 in Solana, MN to Joseph and Hazel (Robinson) Herubin. John being the fourth of their six children.
John was united in marriage to Joanne Mickelson on June 16, 1962 at the Holden Lutheran Church. They lived in the Braham area for 40 years. Their son Bryan was born there. In 1975 they purchased his home place in the McGrath area and retired there in 2005. John worked for J. I. Case dealers for 50 years, in McGrath, Braham, and Pease, MN, as a mechanic.
John was an avid hunter – deer and turkey. He loved riding around in his side-by-side and in his later years he enjoyed fixing tractors over the phone and watching “American Pickers”. He especially enjoyed making maple syrup in the Spring, even if the snow was still deep.
John was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Hazel, brothers Charles, Robert, sisters Esther and Benjamin Kubat, Elsie and James Anderson and Kathryn Herubin.
He is survived by his wife Joanne, son Bryan, granddaughters Kayla and Abby, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Holden Lutheran Church at 2 p.m. with Rev. Cathy Hedmark officiating. Honorary Casketbearers are; Kayla Herubin, Abby Herubin, Benjamin Mickelson, Russell Mickelson, Jeremy Mickelson, and Brett Mickelson. Visitation will be one hour before at the church. Arrangements by Dresser-Methven Funeral Home, Mora, MN.
