May 24 was a great day for the Cambridge-Isanti boys track team, when they competed at the Mississippi 8 Conference meet at Chisago Lakes High School.

Head coach Kent Viesselman was impressed with how his team prepared in route to their second-place finish.
“We had all-conference or honorable mention performers in all but two of the 18 events,” he said. “A credit to all our assistant coaches, they do a fantastic job.”

The boys scored 133 points, putting them in second behind St. Michael-Albertville (149.5). An all around team performance was key in helping the Bluejackets secure the top two finish.

All-conference athletes include; the 4×800 team (second-place) of Mike Dyer, Dylan Larson, Mason Friez and Stephen Smith; the 4×400 team (second-place) of Dylan Larson, Mike Dyer, Clavin Thompson and Stephen Smith; Michael Terwilliger in the 110m hurdles (fourth); Aidan Brown in the high jump (third); Andrew Pauly (second) and Jonah Brady (fourth) in the pole vault; Will Flemister (second), and Erik Mickelson (third) in the shot put; and Caleb Skiba in the discus (second).

Up next for the Bluejackets will be the Section 7AA meet which will be held at Cambridge-Isanti High School on May 31 and June 3.
