The second annual 5K Family Run/Walk is quickly approaching and registration is encouraged. This is a free event that is open to the public.
The 5K Family Fun Run/Walk will be held April 22. Check-in between 8-9:45 a.m. and the race starts at 10 a.m. at the Cambridge Campus. This year, the 5K is celebrating Anoka-Ramsey being named one of the Top 10 Community Colleges in the U.S. by the Aspen Institute. The 5K is a part of the Cambridge Campus’ Community Spring Fling event, which includes an Earth-Friendly Fair and a Health Fair.
“Each year my family looks forward to attending the Earth Friendly Fair to participate in the excitement, and now coupled with the Health Fair, there is even more fun to experience,” said Shannon Kirkeide, Dean of Academic and Community Outreach. “The day was filled with an electricity that energized all of us, and we will definitely return again this year.”
The Earth-Friendly Fair will be held April 22 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Cambridge Campus, Room G201-202.
The theme for this year’s Earth Friendly Fair is Think Spring, Thank Winter: an appreciation of winter. The feature presentation will be Cool Creatures, which includes a live penguin from Como Park Zoo. There will also be children’s activities, a raffle, poetry readings and an exhibit.
The Health Fair will be held April 22 from 9 a.m. to noon in the Cambridge Campus Cafeteria. Anoka-Ramsey student nurses are putting the health fair on with the theme Highway to Health. There will be prizes as well as engaging activities on factors that pose a risk to the community’s health.
