Co-op owners help provide shelter

In February, 45 community members joined 3,200 of their neighbors in becoming member/owners of City Center Market Food Co-op.

Shoppers can join the Co-op at any time, but during this February Member/Owner Drive, the Co-op added an extra incentive – for every new owner the Co-op donated $10 to New Pathways, a local nonprofit organization that provides shelter to families with children.

Gayle Cupit, City Center Market General Manager, presented New Pathways with a check for $450.
“Commitment to community and to helping our neighbors is one of the principles upon which cooperatives are founded,” Cupit said. “We’re glad that we can help our neighbors in this way.”

City Center Market Food Co-op is a consumer cooperative, with almost 3,200 member/owners, selling healthy foods and other products and helping build a vibrant and sustainable community.

Located in downtown Cambridge, City Center Market provides a large selection of local, organic and natural foods and other products, including unusual specialty items, and special ordering capabilities.
