Rehearsals are now underway for ‘Lady Pirates of the Caribbean’

It’s time for another show on the stage of the Richard G. Hardy Performing Arts Center of Cambridge-Isanti High School.

“Lady Pirates of the Caribbean” rehearsals are well under way for this ship-shape pirate comedy.

Audiences of all ages will enjoy the wit and humor of the cast, the amazing costuming and make up design, and the creatively designed set – which is made to be portable to use both on the CIHS stage as well as Spirit River Community Center, their dinner theatre performance venue.

The show opens on Wednesday, April 5 with three student performances throughout the school day. Public performances on the high school stage are Thursday, April 6 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, April 9 at 3 p.m., with all tickets being general admission and available online and at the door.

Dinner Theatre performances at Spirit River Community Center are Friday and Saturday, April 7 and April 8, by reservation only. All tickets are available at showtix4u.com. Questions can be directed to [email protected]; or the ticket booth at 763-689-6466.

Broadening the learning curve for the student actors and techs for this show has been a top priority. With many “new faces” on and off the CIHS stage it has been a privilege to help guide the process of bringing a production to stage by using student leaders in all areas.

Students have had the opportunity to be creative in the overall process of designing the show, including color schemes, set design, hair and make-up design, costuming, and lighting design.

The Artistic Team who helps to guide these processes are, Directors, mother-daughter team, Viva and Megan Anderson; Technical Director, Chuck Vrchota; Set Director, Tim Anderson; and Costume Leads, Christine McVicker and (student) Madeline Kohn.

On March 25, the Theatre Department will host a fundraiser, a “pirate-y” photo booth, at the Robotics team hosted vendor show in the high school gym from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For a monetary donation you can dress up in the provided costumes and take a “Picture with a Pirate.” All are invited to join the fun.
