James Joseph Hockert, age 92 of Cambridge, formerly of Garrison, MN, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 3, 2017.
He was born on February 23, 1925 in Freeport, MN to Fred and Marie Hockert. He graduated from Melrose High School and served in the Navy from 1943 to 1946. He married Mary Jeannette Piechowski on November 28, 1946. He worked as a truck driver for Admiral Merchants, retiring from the Teamsters Local 120 in 1976.
Jim had a passion for golf, whether in Florence Garden, AZ or the Mille Lacs golf course in Garrison. Although, his most important passion was spending time with family and friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Marie; three brothers and seven sisters; daughter Rosemarie and son Thomas.
He is survived by his loving wife, of 70 years, Mary; sister Bertha Stroeing; sons Jim, Mike and Nick; daughters Mary Jo Elliott, Claudette Christensen and Annette Brown; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 230 N. Fern St., Cambridge, MN.
Visitation one hour prior to Mass at church.
