Representative Brian Johnson, R-Cambridge, recently introduced legislation that will designate a segment of Trunk Highway 65 in Isanti County from 305th Avenue Northeast to the northerly limit of Cambridge Township as the Chip A. Imker Memorial Highway.
Imker, a Cambridge firefighter, tragically passed away in a training accident in 2011 at the age of 35. He was also a member of the Army National Guard and a volunteer wrestling coach for Cambridge-Isanti High School.
“Chip Imker was a dedicated public servant, father and friend to many in the Cambridge community,” Johnson said. “Dedicating a portion of Highway 65 to him is a way to honor the memory of a man who tirelessly gave back to our community. I will be advocating for the memorial highway this session, and hope we can get it passed into law.”
