During the Isanti City Council meeting Nov. 15, the council approved the site plan and building appearance for O’Reilly Auto Parts to be located at 101 Sixth Ave. NE, on the south side of Coborn’s grocery store.
According to a staff memo by Community Development Director Roxanne Achman, O’Reilly’s plans to build a 7,453-square-foot retail auto parts store on a 1.89-acre lot zoned B2 General Business District. Achman noted an auto parts store is a permitted use within the B2 General Business District.

Coborn’s postpones convenience store, car wash
Achman explained via staff memo that Coborn’s is requesting a site plan amendment. The original site plan included a gas station with a convenience store and car wash.
Coborn’s is requesting to revise the site plan for a “pay at the pump” facility. The facility would have a fuel canopy with several fuel pumps and a mechanical box for controls.
The area where the convenience store and car wash were planned would be landscaped using a combination of rock, boulders and greenery. The canopy will be wrapped in a metal material in a color that matches the main building.
Following discussion, the council approved a resolution amending the conditional use permit and site-plan building appearance for Coborn’s and added the construction plans need to match the proposed layout as provided by Coborn’s.
Achman noted it is unknown when or if the convenience store and car wash will be constructed, but if the decision is made to construct either, or both, a new application and plans need to be submitted and approved by the Planning Commission and City Council.
