The Isanti County Senior Poultry team was named State Champion for the third straight year during the State 4-H Project Bowl competition on April 16 at Sauk Rapids Rice Middle School.

The Isanti County team finished first at a regional competition on March 1 in Foley to earn the right to compete at the state competition. The Isanti team battled through several difficult rounds in order to be named champion. Prior to competing at regional and state project bowl events, the youth spent countless hours studying and practicing. The youth meet every Saturday from October through April to practice and prepare.

A special thank you to Community Pride Bank in Isanti for hosting weekly practices. This year’s senior poultry knowledge bowl team members are Kayla Lenzmeier, Ty Redmann, Tiana Lenzmeier, Nathan Vonderharr and Aaron Christensen.

The Isanti Senior Poultry Team will represent the state of Minnesota at the National Avian Project Bowl in Louisville, Kentucky in November.

There were over 130 teams from across the state participating at the 4-H State Project Bowl in specific project areas including dairy, dog, general livestock, horse, poultry, rabbit, and wildlife. Project bowl is a way for 4-H youth to explore a project area. If you are interested in learning more about project bowl or 4-H programming in Isanti County, call 763-689-1810.
