Bringing change from tragedy: The Josie King story

Each year, nearly 100,000 patients die in hospitals from medical errors. It is the fourth leading cause of death in the United States, according to the Josie King Foundation.

A completely unexpected medical error at a hospital took Josie King’s life in 2001. Her mother, Sorrell King, shared their story on behalf of the foundation she started, the Josie King Foundation, at Cambridge-Isanti High School, during an Oct. 20 presentation to Anoka-Ramsey Community College nursing students and other community members.
