Free Tax Help

Want help filing for your Rent Credit or Property Tax refund? AARP Tax-Aides will be available to assist you on July 30, from 3-7 p.m. and  Aug. 1, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Cambridge Public Library, 244 South Birch St., Cambridge. Call 763-645-1228 for an appointment. Help will also be available at the 7 County Senior Federation, 47 Park St. N., Mora, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Aug. 5. Cambridge Surplus Food Distribution

Cambridge Surplus Food Distribution will not have a food distribution during the month of July because of the Isanti County Fair. They would like to thank all the volunteers who have helped during distribution the last three months.  This distribution would not happen without each and every one of you doing your part. See you next month.

Spirit River Community Notes

Due to busy summer schedules, Spirit River Community will not be hosting community dinners during the month of July. They will have a community dinner on the second Wednesday of August.

Isanti Family Farmers Market

Fridays: The Isanti Family Farmers Market will be held every Friday through Sept. 25 at 18 Broadway St. SW. in Isanti (Eagle Park) from 2:30-6:30 p.m. More info at isantifamilyfarmersmarket.org.

Cambridge Farmers Market

Saturdays: The Cambridge Farmers Market will be held every Saturday through Oct. 31 at the City Center Market parking lot in Cambridge from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Young Life Dunk Tank at Isanti County Fair

July 22-26: All are invited to dunk a politician, policeman and many others at the Young Life Dunk Tank during the Isanti County Fair. Proceeds benefit the Young Life program.

Summer Musicale at Cambridge Lutheran

Saturday, July 25: Cambridge Lutheran Church, 621 Old North Main St. presents a unique opportunity to hear some fine organ and piano music, as well as vocal and instrumental solo pieces, performed by a variety of very talented musicians. At 2 p.m. there will be a “Local Talent” concert with Mike Williams, Marlys Olson, Arne Everson, Mary Kay O’Neill, Graeme Shields and others.

At 2 p.m. there will be an “Excerpts” Concert  with Signe Reistad, mezzo soprano, and Graeme Shields, piano, performing movements of large-scale works from operas, musicals and song cycles.

Isanti County Talent Show

Sunday, July 26: It is not too early to prepare for the Isanti County Talent Show to be held 3 p.m. at the Bandshell on the Isanti County Fairgrounds. Winners in each of the pre-teen, teen, and open divisions will receive a trip to the State Fair talent show as well as cash prizes and plaques. Details are available at www.isanticountyfair.com. Alcohol Chemical Treatment Series

Monday, July 27: The Alcohol Chemical Treatment Series will meet from 7-8 p.m. every Monday at the Cambridge Family Pathways Conference Room, 1575 East First Ave. (located in the food shelf building). Rumelva Lodge Sons of Norway

Tuesday, July 28: Rumelva Lodge Sons of Norway will meet at 7 p.m. at the Isanti County Historical Society, located at the northwest corner of the Isanti County Fairgrounds in Cambridge. Vietnam Veterans of America Picnic

Wednesday, Aug. 5: The Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 684, Cambridge, is hosting its annual picnic for all veterans and their families at the Isanti Community Center, 121 First Ave., Isanti, from 4-6:30 p.m. Hamburgers, hot dogs, brats and bottled water provided. A potluck dish is welcomed. No charge for the event. Bring your favorite lawn chair.

Cathedrals and Gangsters Tour 

Tuesday, Sept. 15: Sac’s Enrichment Center invites the public to join them for a tour to the St. Paul Cathedral and 1930s Gangster Tour of St. Paul, as organized by volunteer host Sandie Ordahl. Lunch will be a buffet lunch at the St. Paul Hotel. They will also have a surprise stop on Grand Avenue. Cost is $89 per person and sign up by calling 763-689-6555.
