U.S. Senators Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken, along with Representative Rick Nolan, announced July 14 that the Department of Transportation has awarded the Cambridge Municipal Airport $247,500 for infrastructure improvements.
“The ability to properly plan for and anticipate future infrastructure needs is essential to safe air travel,” Klobuchar said. “This support gives the Cambridge Airport the resources to do just that.”
“Making investments in our transportation and infrastructure systems is key to strengthening Minnesota’s economy,” Franken said. “These resources will allow Cambridge Airport to best serve the region as it grows and will go a long way towards updating Minnesota’s overall transportation infrastructure.”
“This funding for the Cambridge Airport will help strengthen our rural economy and keep our travelers safe,” Nolan said. “Good planning is critical to any infrastructure project. This project will support the airport’s maintenance and development, aiding its ability to meet the growing need for speedy and efficient air service and creating good-paying jobs in the area.”
The grant will help the airport update its master plan study.
