Nobody ever said that an OktoberFest event ‘has’ to happen in October — after all, it is a fall harvest festival.
After struggling with the weather and other concerns in late September, the 7th annual fundraiser and community recognition event for historic St. John’s Lutheran Church of Bradford will be held Saturday, Aug. 16, with a complete and authentic Bavarian (German) style buffet dinner served from 3-6 p.m.
And there’s new entertainment. Kris and the Riverbend Dutchmen (fresh off of their multi-repeat appearance on the Molly B Polka Party program on RFD–TV) will perform from 3-6:30 p.m. The band performs in the traditional ‘Dutchmen’ style — with lots of oom-pah, with plenty of polkas and more — so bring your dancing shoes, some friends, and come prepared to swing around the dance floor.
For those ‘real Germans’ and ‘true brew aficionados,’ there will be a traditional German Adult Bierstube offering many top–selling brews, all direct from the ‘Homeland.’ Lest one desire something softer, Root Beer Floats featuring the world famous Original 1919 Root Beer can be purchased. Also available at the Bierstube will be Laugenbretzels (large traditional knotted pretzel) or Laugenstangens (long pretzel stick) — each one made fresh especially for you by a ‘real’ German bakery just a couple of hours prior to the event.
All profits from this event are used to restore-maintain the historic St. John’s Lutheran Church of Bradford and adjacent grounds.
OktoberFest is held outdoors at historic St. John’s Lutheran Church of Bradford, 900 Co. Rd., 5 NW, 2.5 miles west of Isanti on County Road 5 Northwest.
This event is programmed and sponsored by the Friends of Historic St. John’s, Inc., which is dedicated to the preservation and maintenance of this National Historic Register site for our generation, and the next.
