August 8, 1923 to June 23, 2014
Lorna Louise, a wife still in love, a mother in mourning, a fisher-woman, a lover of books, a card-player, an appreciator of beauty, a Minnesota Twins fan and traveling companion, died on Monday, June 23, 2014 at 90 years old.
This is only a snapshot of the woman we knew as a precious member of our family and many knew as a treasured friend
The men in her life were special. Lorna adored her dad, Joe, and found true lasting love with her husband, Gordon. Together they were loving parents to Carol Jo and Phillip. Her children gave her great gifts of grandchildren, Allen and Sheri, Scotty and Paula.
As a young woman, Lorna Louise enjoyed cabin life for a few summer months on Rush Lake while pursuing her love of fishing. She also spent many lazy afternoons luring the fish at Goose Lake with her mother-in-law, Esther.
RV traveling took the couple to locations as close as Cross Lake and Grand Rapids, Minnesota. In later life, Lorna and Gordon packed up their motorhome for warm weather destinations in Port Isabel, Texas and Apache Junction, Arizona. Many of her travels were with close friends, Dorothy and Lenny Lester and Carol and Ralph Sutherland. Family trips often included her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jeri and Donald Peterson. Never to be left behind were her beloved little dogs.
From her small house in Cambridge to her cozy home at Caley House, Lorna never stopped redecorating. She was known to change furniture layouts in a whim, sometimes as often as she vacuumed, always surprising her visitors!
She loved reading her entire life. Her books brought her a great deal of enjoyment. Often, she was finished with one before the next book arrived. Through her reading, we can only imagine the places she went and the interesting folks she met.
Lorna was a fun loving and kind woman. She enjoyed visiting with the people in her life; often engaging them in a competitive game of cards and introducing a new generation to the now familiar games of Rook and Skip Bo. With a smile on her face, she played to win!
Lorna Louise Peterson thank you for all the beautiful memories.
