Swedish group to perform at Cambridge Lutheran

Cambridge Lutheran Church is pleased to host the Vikarbyn Lilla Spelmanslag from Vikabyn, Sweden, a small village very near Cambridge’s Sister City, Rättvik, Sweden.

Director, Margaretha Mattson brought a similar group to Cambridge for the 2006 Swedish Festival. Organizers are excited to welcome this year’s group back to Cambridge.

The public is welcome to attend this great concert. It will be held at 7 p.m. July 22 at Cambridge Lutheran Church, Fellowship Hall, 621 Old North Main St., Cambridge. Free-will offering will be taken.

The Vikarbyns Lilla Spelmanslag are a group of young fiddlers ranging in age from 14-23 years playing music from the Dalarna Region of Sweden. The students have all studied at the Music school in Rattvik Sweden. They perform in traditional costume and play many concerts throughout the year in Sweden. The group also plays a variety of traditional folk music from various countries, including Irish and American tunes, relating to their cultural exchanges in Ireland and the United States.
