No Cambridge Surplus Food Distribution in July

Cambridge Surplus Food Distribution will not be holding a distribution during the month of July due to the Isanti County Fair.

Exhibition features work of Marilyn Taus

Through July 25: The Cambridge Center for the Arts is hosting an art exhibition featuring the paintings of the late Marilyn Taus, who taught at ARCC, and had a successful career as a painter, sculptor, ceramist and other media. Also in the show are works from the Visual Women, Taus’ mentoring group. The exhibit is open from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday and Saturdays, and noon to 6 p.m. on Thursdays at the Gallery, 140 Buchanan St. Suite 178.

Community Dinner at Spirit River

Wednesday, July 9: All are invited to a Community Dinner at Spirit River Community, 1320 Co. Rd. 5 NE, Isanti. An enchilada tater tot hot dish, salad and dessert will be served from 5:30-7 p.m.

Isanti Parade Food Booth

Thursday, July 10: St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church will be selling food in the parking lot beginning at 4:30 p.m. prior to the start of the Isanti Rodeo Jubilee Days parade until gone. There will be water, pop, hot dogs, brats and burgers.

YMCA/Pool Facility Group Meeting

Thursday, July 10: A group of area citizens are meeting to discuss the prospects of a YMCA and public pool for Cambridge. Are you interested in making this become a reality for our area? Come to a meeting. All are welcome to meet at 6:30 p.m. in the Cambridge-Isanti High School cafeteria.

Herbs All Year, Many Dishes

Thursday, July 10: Presented by Marty Bergland, Emeritus Master Gardener, Wright County. She is a frequent speaker in many gardening areas. Culinary herbs are far more useful than generally considered. Join Bergland for ideas on growing fresh herbs year-round in your garden, landscape, small spaces and containers. Numerous methods for drying, freezing and storing herbs for year-round delicious eating will be presented. This free presentation at the Isanti County Government Center in Cambridge at 7 p.m. is sponsored by the Isanti County Master Gardeners. Friday, July 11: Spirit River Community will offer a Family Rest Area for those needing a quiet time while at the Isanti Rodeo.

Parkinson’s Support Group Meeting

Wednesday, July 16: Parkinson’s Support Group will hold its regular monthly meeting from 10-11:30 a.m. at GracePointe Crossing, Commons Building, 1545 River Hills Parkway, Cambridge. Rose Wicklund from Struthers Parkinson’s Center will be the guest speaker. Individuals with Parkinson’s Disease, their families, friends, and caregivers are invited to attend.

Turkey and Potato Sausage Fundraising Feast

Southern Gospel Concert

Sunday, July 20: All are invited to a Southern Gospel Concert at 6 p.m. at North Isanti Baptist Church, 2248 313th Ave. NE, Cambridge. The church is hosting the southern gospel group “Declaration” from Nashville. A free-will offering will be taken to help with the group’s travel expenses. Coffee and treats follow the concert.

Monday, July 21: An American Red Cross Blood Drive will be held from noon to 5 p.m. at Cambridge Medical Center, 701 S. Paint and Pinot

Thursday, July 24: Cambridge Center for the Arts is hosting the next “Paint and Pinot” class from 6:30-9 p.m. Local artist MaryAnn Cleary will guide attendees through the painting process of a Split Rock Lighthouse scene. All painting supplies and canvas are included in the cost. Bring your favorite wine beverage and enjoy an evening of painting fun in a non-intimidating and social environment. Beginning and advanced students welcome. Appetizers served. Cost: $35, $30 for CCFA members, limited to 10 pre-paid students. 3rd Annual ScholarDash 5K Fun Run/Walk

Saturday, Aug. 2: The 3rd Annual ScholarDash 5K Fun Run/Walk will be held from 9-10 a.m. at Braham Area High School. All proceeds benefit Braham Area Students in the form of honor loans to graduating seniors. Help make a difference in the life of a young adult by supporting Braham Area Dollars for Scholars. 13 and older to register for $20, t-shirt included. 12 and under to register but at no charge, no t-shirt.
