Thank you for the opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Scott Soderman, and I’m running for the office of County Commissioner, District 2. I am very excited to have the opportunity to serve my fellow residents of Isanti County, and specifically Springvale Township. My family has lived in this county for over 100 years, and we still maintain the original family farm on County Road 14. I have been a homeowner and parent in Isanti County for over 30 years. I’ve owned two houses and raised both a daughter and son in Springvale Township.
My business experience includes over 30 years of operating a small-business in Cambridge with all of the trials and rewards that entails. I fully understand the challenges and responsibilities that business owners face in our current economic climate. The weight of taxes, the responsibility of commitments is a daily experience. I make it a point of pride that I have done very little advertising for my services, relying on word of mouth and references to make my business the success that it has become. I was raised on a farm and have lived my life by the motto, “A decent day’s wage requires a decent day’s work.”
In short, I understand the trials and tribulations of everyday life in our community. I am very committed to making every possible effort to improving the overall economy and conditions that we experience every day. We need to be aggressive in attracting new business and employment opportunities to our community. This is not only for the increased jobs, but also for the increase in our tax base that these businesses will create. It is time for people that understand business to run our community to benefit all of our residents.
