C-I Baseball hits to wins over Tigers, Vikings, Bison

Continuing to hit well this season, the Cambridge-Isanti baseball squad stacked up three Mississippi 8 wins over a six-day stretch.

Down 3-1 after the first inning, the Bluejackets rallied back to defeat host Princeton 13-3 on May 15. Singles by Tristen Zimprich, Collin Anderson, Michael Thomas and Kyle Chromy led to a three-run third inning  that put the team ahead for good. Cody Binger struck out four Tigers over five innings to get the win. Brandon Gageby, Chromy and Grant Lillemoen all finished with two hits for C-I.

Earlier that afternoon, Grand Rapids got past the Jackets 5-2 with a four-run seventh inning. Zimprich had two hits for C-I.

The Bluejackets kept catching up on their schedule with two wins on May 20. Jake Johnson pitched 5.3 innings and Jake Harding got the win in relief when C-I downed Buffalo 5-2. Singles by Anderson, Gageby and Jake Sylvester, along with a key Bison boot, had C-I scoring three runs in the bottom of the sixth. Sylvester led the bats with two hits.

Also on Tuesday, the Bluejackets blanked North Branch 9-0 when Binger held the Vikings to three hits over seven innings, stirking out nine. Thomas stroked three hits, with two hits each coming from Connor Hanson, Zimprich, Gagey and Sylvester.
