New Art Show Opening
Friday, May 16: The Cambridge Center for the Arts presents HIGH Horse, a new show presented in conjunction with the Anoka-Ramsey Community College Art Club. Come and enjoy a variety of wonderful art created by students of the college. The show opens, with a reception, 4-7 p.m., on Friday, May 16, at the Cambridge Center for the Arts Gallery, located in the Cambridge City Center Mall, 140 N. Buchanan St. Suite 178. The HIGH Horse art show continues through June 17. Cambridge Center for the Arts is open Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday afternoons.
Huge Plant Sale
Saturday, May 17: A huge plant sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. (or until sold out). Located near the Cambridge Community Garden. Easy to find — go south on Main Street to 18th Ave. SW, turn right and park behind the Community Garden on East Rum River Drive. This will be your only chance this year to purchase several varieties of plants (perennials, annuals, vegetables and fruit) that have been grown and nurtured by the certified University of Minnesota Master Gardeners of Isanti County. Mothers of Preschoolers Garage Sale & Bazaar
Saturday, May 17: The M.O.P.S. (Mothers of Preschoolers) Garage Sale & Bazaar will be held from 8 a.m. to noon at North Isanti Baptist Church, 2248 313th Ave. NE, Cambridge. You will find everything from garage sale items, home business sales, bake sale goods and free kid crafts. Admission is free; free-will donation appreciated.
Scandinavian Breakfast at Cambridge Lutheran
Saturday, May 17: A Scandinavian Breakfast Fundraiser to benefit Cambridge Lutheran’s 150th Anniversary will be held from 8-10 a.m. in the Cambridge Lutheran Fellowship Hall. $6 donation. Tickets must be purchased by May 14. Tickets are available from team members and at the church office, or by calling Barb at 763-742-8614 or Carol at 763-689-3901 to purchase or reserve. There will also be a bake sale to benefit the American Cancer Society (Cambridge Lutheran Relay for Life Team).
Walk for Life
Saturday, May 17: The Pregnancy Resource Center of Cambridge is holding its annual Walk for Life. This 2-mile walk begins at the Pregnancy Center, located at City Center Mall in Cambridge. Registration starts at 9 a.m. and the walk begins at 10 a.m. Pre-register and give online at: www.cambridgeprc.com.
Knights of Columbus Spaghetti Supper
Saturday, May 17: The Cambridge Knights of Columbus will host a Spaghetti Supper from 4-7 p.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church Parish Hall in Cambridge. Ticket prices are $7 for adults, $4 for ages 6-12, under age 6 are free. All proceeds will benefit the St. Scholastica School.
Preschool Carnival and Open House
Saturday, May 17: Christ Lutheran Church, located 1.5 miles east of Walmart on Highway 95 in Cambridge, will host a preschool carnival and open house from 3-5 p.m. The event is geared toward ages 2-5, and will include carnival games, face painting, minnow races, balloon animals, hot dogs and more. All are welcome to tour the preschool and meet the teacher.
Dance at Braham Community Center
Saturday, May 17: The Braham Area Community Events Center will host a dance from 7-11 p.m. It will feature music by Freeway Jam and special guests; 50s, 60s 70s; classic rock and country. Fun for the entire family and friends. Cash bar available. Free-will offering.
Helios Masonic Lodge Pancake Breakfast
Sunday, May 18: Helios Masonic Lodge Pancake Breakfast will be held from 8-1 a.m. Cost is $6 for pancakes, eggs, sausage, OJ, milk and coffee. Located at Second Avenue and Cypress Street South in Cambridge.
Cambridge Lions Pancake & Waffle Breakfast
Sunday, May 18: The Cambridge Lions Pancake & Waffle Breakfast Fundraiser for the Cambridge Ambassador Program will be held from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church Parish Hall. All the pancakes, waffles, and scrambled eggs with ham you can eat. $6/adults; $4/ages 3-11 at the door or tickets from any candidate.
East Central MN Grad Band Concert
Sunday, May 18: The East Central Minnesota Grad Band will hold a spring concert at 2 p.m. at Cambridge Middle School, 31374 Xylite St. NE. Arrangements by Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey and Deanne Kinkaide and others will be performed. The band will also celebrate its 25th anniversary with its founding members and special refreshments. Admission is free, but free-will offering is welcome. All are welcome.
Garms Family Concert
Sunday, May 18: The David and Kris Garms family, Minnesota’s family of southern gospel music, will perform at 6 p.m. at North Isanti Baptist Church, 2248 313th Ave. NW, Cambridge. Isanti Lions Pancake Breakfast
Sunday, May 18: The Isanti Lions are having a Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser from 8 a.m. to noon at the Isanti Community Center. Donations of $6 per adult, and $5 per senior and child. All proceeds go toward community projects. The Isanti Lions have provided more than 40 years of community service.
Sunday, May 18: The East Central Minnesota Parents, Friends and Families of Lesbians and Gays will meet at 4:30 p.m. at Common Ground (United Methodist Church) 409 North Cypress St. Cambridge, in the Fireside Room. Cambridge State Hospital Cemetery Program
Thursday, May 22: All are invited to the Cambridge State Hospital Cemetery Ceremony from 4:30-6 p.m., rain or shine. The clean-up and ceremony begins at 4:30 p.m. (Main St. South, right on 18th Ave. SE, left on Scidmore Place, right on 21st Pine Lane, end of cul de sac). A potluck will follow in Heritage Park, 1455 Fern St. S., Cambridge.
Annual Maple Ridge Memorial Day Program
Saturday, May 24: The old Maple Ridge Covenant Church, located 7 miles west of Braham on Holly Street, will hold a potluck meal at noon, followed by a Memorial Day program. Bring your own picnic dishes and silverware. Coffee will be furnished. All are welcome to come and have a good time of fellowship.
Meet the Candidates Dessert Social
Tuesday, June 3: Friends, family, and sponsors are invited to meet the 2014 Cambridge Ambassador Candidates and share delicious desserts created by the candidates and Little Misses during a dessert social at 7 p.m. at the Armed Forces Reserve and Community Center in Cambridge.
