The Cambridge-Isanti boys placed 3rd and the C-I girls were 8th when the Section 5AAA True Team meet was hosted at CIHS May 7. The Blaine boys and Forest Lake girls took top honors to advance to the State True Team meet.
Justin Gordon came through with a win in the 110 hurdles at 15.6, and Cole Crocker was 8th in that event (16.4). Sprinter John Solberg continued his strong spring season by placing 3rd in the 100-meter dash (11.5) and 5th in the 200 (23.0) for the Bluejacket boys. Nick Marshall added points by running to 6th in the 1600 (4:41), and Henry Boettcher was 8th in the 3200 (10:26).
Leading the field events were Bryant Nelson (12-06) and James Moyer (12-0) going 1st-2nd in the pole vault for C-I. Devin Malik cleared 5-08 for 8th in the high jump, and Thomas Mickelson marked 19-04 for 8th in the long jump. Calvin Thompson’s 38-07 was good for 6th in the triple jump. James Gallas added a 7th-place in the shot put (45-05), and Darren DeBaere tossed the discus 143-07 for 5th place.
The Bluejacket girls received big points in the pole vault when Anna D. Nelson placed 2nd at 9-06, followed closely by Laura Meier placing 4th at 9-0 and Michaela Pasch clearing for 7th at 8-0. Jordyn Galleazzi finished 4th in the triple jump (33-07), and Greta Holt was 11th in the high jump (4-06). Also in the field events, Madeline Krueger tossed the shot put 31-06 for 8th-place points.
