C-I Baseball beats Knights, Horn

BASEBALL & SOFTBALL ROUND-UP:   Cambridge-Isanti struck down Mississippi 8 baseball rival St. Michael-Albertville 6-1 on April 22. Jake Johnson held down the Knights by scattering 8 hits and striking out 7 over his 6 innings to get his second win of spring. The Bluejackets broke the game open in the third when Connor Hanson singled and Tristen Zimprich was hit by a pitch, then Kyle Chromy and Collin Anderson singled before Brandon Gageby came through with a big two-out double to right-center.

The C-I boys improved to 4-0 on the season after defeating host Big Lake 7-5 April 25. Grant Lillemoen went 3-for-4 with 2 doubles to lead the offense. Hanson and Anderson both added 2 hits, and Jake Harding got the win with 5-hit ball over 5 innings of relief.

Braham battles Isle fastpitch–  Braham catcher Lizzie Altendorf tried to keep an Isle player from scoring at home when the Bombers hosted the Huskies on April 25. Isle, this year’s Great River and Section 5A favorite, took a 4-0 lead in the first inning and erupted for six runs in the fourth to win 13-1. Warrior Baseball wins two

Cambridge-Christian baseball earned two wins in action last week. The Warriors opened an 8-0 lead in the first inning and went on to defeat Rosemount Baptist 12-7 on April 22. Grant Taylor supplied 3 hits, and Matt Reinke added a pair of hits to support Nick Dufeck’s 5 innings on the mound.

On April 25, Alex Moses struck out 9 while giving up just 1 hit over 5 innings in a 6-1 win over Minnesota Transitions. Moses had 2 doubles and a single at the plate.

 

Braham Baseball starts 0-2

Braham baseball got in its first game of the season April 22, falling to host PACT 7-6. The Bombers then dropped an April 25 make-up game at Hinckley-Finlayson 10-3.

C-I Softball 2nd at Rochester tourney

The Cambridge-Isanti fastpitch squad went 2-1 to finish as runners-up at the April 26 Rochester Invite.

C-I Coach Dave Hanson notes:  Game 1)  Jenna Ramberg got the opening 8-5 over Winona in a 7 inning complete game.  Ramberg also came through with the bat going 3-4 with 2 RBI.  Abby Glotzbach laced four singles and drove home another 3 runs.

Game 2)  Emily Logan made her varsity pitching debut memorable with a complete game win by the score of 7-4 over Rochester Mayo.  Scattering 6 hits and only 2 walks. Logan gave up only 1 earned run in notching the victory.  At the plate, Sydney Larkin led the way with 2 hits, including a 3 run home run to left center in the fourth inning.   Josie Potrament, Kayla Bowker, Kate Hanson, and Casey Johnshoy picked up the other Bluejacket hits.


Game 3 Championship vs. Lakeville North)   Falling behind early, the Jackets fell to Class AAA No. 3 ranked Lakeville North 20-4. The Jackets managed only four hits in the five-inning game–  one each by Potrament, Bowker, Glotzbach, and Maria Vavra. Overall, the Bluejackets had a nice Saturday tournament behind some solid pitching and very good defensive play in winning 2 of 3 in Rochester.
