SPORTS ROUND-UP: The Braham boys placed 3rd and the girls were 5th at the April 25 Pine City Chengwatana Invite which had most of the Great River teams competing. The Pine City girls and Moose Lake-Willow River boys won the gathering.
Zach Dahlman was the Bomber boys’ points leader when he won the 800m (2:14.7), and finished 2nd in both the triple jump (35-03) and discus (121-11). Nick Jones posted a 1st-place 54.9 in the 400, and Logan Leavey won the 3200 by 9 seconds at 10:55. Teaming to win the 4×800 relay were Ryan Reising, Leavey, Thomas Warner and Dahlman.
More points came in the 1600 when Connor TenNapel (5:04, 2nd) and Warner (5:05, 3rd) ran well at PC, with TenNapel adding a 4th in the 3200 (11:44). Jayden Pritt placed 3rd in the pole vault (8-0), and Reisling was 3rd in the 800 (2:17). Eric Eskuri finished 4th in the discus (114-02).
The Bomber girls were led by Rachel Eskuri winning both the 1600 (5:55) and 3200 (12:45). Jenna Winter placed 2nd in the pole vault (7-06) and was 3rd in the discus (87-07), with Jaclyn Hollenkamp adding a 2nd in the 100 (13.1). The Bombers’ top relay was the 4×200 of Hollenkamp, Winter, Shamaria Jordan and Miranda Wickman which placed 2nd at 58.2.
Swanson leads Bluejacket Boys Golf on Eagle Ridge
C-I boys golf finished in 5th place at the Grand Slam Invite hosted on Eagle Ridge GC on May 26. Matt Swanson paced the squad with a 4th-place 78. Joining him for the 340 team total were Nate Cox (86), Brad Schintz (87), Spencer Harvey (89), Seth Kirkeide (99) and Orion Collins (99).
The Cambridge-Isanti boys tennis squad competed in the April 26 Hibbing Invite. At No. 2 Singles, Tommy Phillips led by placing 3rd when he defeated two Hibbing entries. Devin Gislason at No. 3 Singles and Jed Bingham at No. 4 Singles each won one match. Adding match wins at doubles were the No. 2 pairing of Raffy Hernando & Jay Gislason, and the No. 3 set of Nino Merkouris & Jonah Benson.
