Rural Princeton woman killed in Wednesday morning crash

An 85-year-old rural Princeton woman was killed during a crash Wednesday morning in rural Isanti County. The personal injury crash was reported at 7:05 a.m. in the area of County Road 5 and Feldspar Street Northwest.

According to a press release by the Isanti County Sheriff’s Office, the driver of the Buick, Eleanor Melvina Lindahl, 85, of rural Princeton, was heading eastbound when she began to fishtail and hit the right shoulder. She overcorrected and ended up in the westbound lane, and was struck by a jeep, heading westbound. Lindahl was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the jeep is a 42-year-old woman from Andover who was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Witnesses at the scene stated the driver of the jeep had no time to react to the oncoming vehicle.

Deputies at the scene said road and weather conditions were a contributing factor. The accident remains under investigation by the Isanti County Sheriff’s Office and the Minnesota State Patrol reconstruction division.

Assisting at the scene were members of the Minnesota State Patrol, Isanti Fire, Isanti County Safety and Rescue, North Memorial Ambulance and the Isanti County Sheriff’s Office.
