Knights hit past C-I Tennis

Getting on the courts after just one outside practice, the Cambridge-Isanti boys tennis squad began the season with a 6-1 loss to visiting St. Michael-Albertville April 11.

“What an exciting match– much closer than the final score indicated. We started out really strong, taking the lead in five matches against a seasoned conference opponent. Three of our four singles lost in three sets, and third doubles lost in two close sets 7-5, 7-5,” described C-I Coach Thea Lowman. “With more time on the courts, we expect our patience during points and our consistency to keep improving.”

The Bluejackets’ No. 2 Doubles set of Raffy Hernando and Devin Gislason marked the team’s match win after a 6-3, 6-3 sweep. Destin Modina, Thomas Phillips, Jay Gislason and Jed Bingham played in the close matches at singles.
