Rev. C.H. (Duke) Pauling passed away peacefully into our Lords loving arms March 22 in Roseville, MN, at age 103.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings and his beloved wife, Ruth.
Survived by sons Ruclare (Patricia), David (Linda), daughters Kristen (Charles) Hirt, and Melody, as well as seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
As a pastor for 61 years, Duke served parishes in Iowa 1934-1950, then Trinity First Lutheran, Minneapolis, 1950-1963, then Cambridge State Hospital 1963-1975, and finally Crest View Lutheran Home, 1976-1995. He officially retired at age 86, but continued doing volunteer work ministering to those around him. Dukes long ministry was distinguished by his God-given preaching ability, combined with his use of unconventional ways to make the gospel come alive for his congregations, his sense of fun, and his call to share Christs love and salvation with everyone, including people set aside by society due to poverty, race, disability or age.
Memorial service 2 p.m., April 26 at Joy Lutheran, Cambridge, MN. Memorials to Joy Lutheran. Arrangements by Carlson-Lillemoen Funeral Home, 763-689-2277.
