Janice Setala, age 80, of Cambridge, died March 26, 2014 at her home.
Janice Marjorie Setala was born May 9, 1933 in Carlton to George and Mareline (MacDonnell) McFall. She was raised and attended school in Carlton. Jan married Toivo Setala on June 24, 1950 and they made their first home in Carlton and shortly after they moved to Hibbing where they would live for 3 years. They then moved to Foxboro, Wisconsin for a year-and-a-half before moving to Kindred, North Dakota where they would live for 5 years. In 1960 they moved to Isanti and then in 1978 they moved to Skogman Lake in rural Cambridge. In Isanti, Jan worked at an Isanti Restaurant, then the Isanti Locker Plant and then she worked in the office of Royal Oak for 23 years. She was also an active member of the Isanti Womens Club. Jan was an avid bowler and went to many state and national tournaments. In her younger years she enjoyed playing volleyball, softball and roller skating.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by 7 brothers and 2 sisters. Jan is survived by her husband, Toivo of Cambridge; son, John (Jennifer) Setala of Anoka; daughter, Marty Steinke of Greeley, Colorado; 4 grandchildren, Matt, Phil, Maggie and Nina; 3 great-grandchildren, Alex, Zack, McCoy; 3 sisters, Barbara (Lou) Hamilton of Michigan, Dorothy Brigan of Finlayson, Florence (Ernie) Strandland of Carlton; and by many other relatives and friends.
A memorial service was held on Monday, March 31, 2014 at Strike Funeral Home Cambridge Chapel with Rev. David Everett officiating. He soloist was Mary Falk and Mary Kay ONeill served as pianist. Interment will be in Cambridge Union Cemetery.
