The Cambridge-Isanti High School Speech team won the Mississippi 8 Conference championship at the March 19 meet hosted by St. Francis. The Bluejackets also earned a Gold Academic award at the meet.
Winning All-Conference honors for Cambridge-Isanti were Rianna Engel (Creative-1st), Jenny Taray (Drama-2nd), Lacey Johnson (Ext. Reading-1st), Sam Peters (Humorous- 2nd), Jordyn Carlson (Informative-1st), Jenny Skalicky (Informative-2nd), and Hannah Kloeckl (Prose-1st).
Earning All-Conference Honorable Mention were Deanna Fixell (Drama-3rd), Tor Anderbeck (Ext. Speaking-3rd), Miranda Cain (Great Speeches-4th), Alice Dimassis (Great Speeches-3rd), Nicole Bergman (Poetry-3rd), and Sarah Titus (Prose-3rd).
Also placing at the conference meet were Nola Nelson/Chloe Truebenbach (Duo-5th), Tanner Hagen (Humorous-5th), Isabelle Barrett (Poetry-5th), Hannah Haglund (Poetry- 6th), Tristen Sima (Prose-6th), and Julia Peterson (Storytelling-6th).
The team, coached by Kelly Fairchild-Fahrni, has had an amazing season so far. They placed third at Ogilvie and Fridley. The Bluejackets placed second at North Branch, Princeton, and Milaca, and they won the Zimmerman Invite.
The team had a home meet March 22, and the Section 7AA tournament will be held in Grand Rapids on Saturday, March 29.
