Mrs. Isanti County wants to make ‘Minnesota Nice’ more than a cliche

Dear Editor:

The Mrs. Minnesota International pageant turned out to be a wonderful experience. I may not have come home with an additional title, but I met some wonderful people and had a whole audience to tell about the Pay It Forward Foundation.

The beauty of the Pay It Forward Foundation is the simplicity of the movement. The fact that all 7 billion people can be a part of something right here, right now is amazing. It doesn’t matter how old you are, how much money you have, or the amount of time on your hands … It all starts with simple acts of kindness. The Pay It Forward movement allows people to start making a difference, building the momentum to create a better world.

The concept of Pay It Forward allows one act of kindness start a ripple effect. Instead of doing something kind in return to the person that has done something for you (paying someone back), you “pay it forward” to someone else.

I would like to ask the citizens of Isanti County to join me in making “Minnesota Nice” more than just a cliche.  Anyone interested in finding out more about becoming a part of the Pay It Forward movement can go to the foundation’s website, to get more information. I would also recommend reading the book, “Pay It Forward” by Catherine Ryan Hyde. If anyone would like to contact me directly about impacting our community, please email me at
