Frigid fun at 2014 Arctic Plunge

Thirty-one teams plunged into the icy water of Long Lake west of Isanti. The crisp -2 degree weather didn’t stop the costumes, fun and charity event Saturday, March 1.

There was also a red union-suited “superman" Costumed characters at the Arctic Plunge, like Doug Johnson passing out beads "Thrift Shop" theme. Costumed characters at the Arctic Plunge included one guy doing “The Worm” A break in the action happened when Cory Abers of the Limu Lean team proposed to his girlfriend, Ashley. She said, ‘Yes!” then Cory took the plunge into Long Lake. The Isanti Ambassadors joined Isanti Mayor George Wimmer for a plunging team. A total of 115 jumpers took part in the event. It was a crisp -2 degrees the afternoon of Saturday, March 1 when the 12th annual Arctic Plunge was hosted on Long Lake west of Isanti. Thirty-one teams raised money for the event, such as the Oak Grove Fire Department (pictured), with proceeds going to a variety local organizations. Members of the Dean’s Heating were the lead off team to take the Arctic Plunge March 1 into the Long Lake hole cut once again by the Englund family ice crew.
