Bluejacket boys fall to Anoka in 7AAAA playoffs

Anoka took a 63-56 lead with 2:02 to go and held the rest of the way to defeat host Cambridge-Isanti 70-66 in the Section 7AAAA quarterfinals on Feb. 27. Senior Matt Swanson scored 14 points and led with 9 rebounds as he finished his career as the all-time leading Bluejacket rebounder.

Kyle McDonald led C-I with 26 points. Seniors Hunter Vavra (8) and Jake Johnson (7), along with junior Devin Malik (8), were next in scoring. The Bluejackets were without shooter Nate Cox (ankle) and senior rebounder Garrett Hiljus (collarbone).

• Anoka (4-23) gave No. 2 seed Andover (14-13) a battle before falling 63-61 in the 7AAAA semis March 4. The Huskies take on top-seed St. Francis (23-5, 68-54 over Blaine in semis) in the March 7 section championship at North Branch.
