With a student made banner in the background, Superintendent Gregory Winter presented certificates honoring school board members for their service at the Braham School Board meeting Feb. 24.

The elementary school is planning to implement Response to Intervention (RTI) and a gifted and talented program for the next school year. As part of the gifted and talented program, early entrance and acceleration may be possible for students with high potential.

The band department received a donation of six used musical instruments from Minnesota Public Radio as part of its Play it Forward campaign.

Seventh grade students Optional Local Purpose Assessment math test scores have increased by 1.41 percent since the fall. Eighth grade students OPLA math test scores have increased by 10.1 percent since the fall.

The next Community Education Advisory Committee meeting for all Community Ed Programs will be April 24. Early Childhood Screening is Feb. 27. Call Community Ed to schedule an appointment. The preschool may extend class hours for the next school year. Tuition can be paid online.

Because of a weather related school closing, the next school make up day is currently scheduled for April 22.

Chair Steve Eklund thanked Nathan Dahlman for teaching science at the Braham Area High School since the fall of 1989. Dahlman will retire at the end of this school year.

The next regular school board meeting is March 17 at 7 p.m. at the Braham Area High School Community Room.
