Saints end Jacket boys hockey season in 7AA playoffs

St. Francis brought Cambridge-Isanti boys hockey’s season to a close with a 6-2 victory in the Feb. 15 Section 7AA play-in game.

After leading 1-0 through the first period, the Saints took advantage of a 5-on-3 advantage with a goal, then they added another power play goal four minutes later while building a 4-0 lead through two periods. The Saints led 5-0 early in the third until Collin Anderson got the Bluejackets on the board. Jacob Sylvester scored the final goal for C-I with under five minutes to play, and Jacob Sibell finished with 37 saves in the nets.

In the Feb. 18 Section 7AA quarterfinals, No. 1 seed Duluth East (19-6-1) defeated the Saints 6-0. The Greyhounds take on No. 4 Grand Rapids (18-8, 2-1 over Forest Lake 2OT) in the Feb. 22 semifinals. The other semis will pit No. 2 Elk River (19-6, 4-3 over Cloquet OT) against No. 3 Andover (18-8, 3-2 over St. Michael-Albertville).
