Tiger Wrestlers open 7AA playoffs Feb. 11

Coming this Friday for the Rush City-Braham wrestling squad is the Great River Conference Finals hosted at Pine City. At stake along with the team championship are individual All-Conference and Honorable Mention honors.

That tourney will be the Tigers’ final tune-up for the Section 7AA South Team playoffs which get underway on Tuesday, Feb. 11 at Chisago Lakes H.S. While seeding is still to be completed, RC-B (5-5 overall) could face either Mora (19-7) or Princeton (8-11) in the 5 p.m. first round.

Milaca (18-9) and Chisago Lakes (9-7) are looking like the top two seeds, and they will take on the first-round winners at 7 p.m. Tuesday night. The two surviving south squads will join the two northern winners at the 7AA semis and finals at Cloquet Feb. 14.

• The Tigers went 1-2 at the Feb. 3 Zimmerman Quad. They defeated Ogilvie 54-28 and dropped matches to Mora (69-12) and Zimmerman (58-15). Rush City-Braham also finished with a 5-2 record in GRC duals this season after Mille Lacs won a 46-33 match Jan. 30.
