Close to 210 Cambridge Middle School students participated in this year’s geography bee. From a seven-question preliminary round, 10 finalists were selected to compete in the final round. Eight students then were eliminated, setting up a two-student championship round. Catherine won by correctly answering “Indonesia” to the question asking what country includes the islands of Madura and Bali.

This is the 35th year that the National Geographic Society has conducted a geography bee for students in grades 4-8 across the United States, five U.S. territories and in the U.S. Department of Defense dependents schools around the world.
