Gymnasts stay on win streak

The Cambridge-Isanti gymnasts worked for two victories to close out their Mississippi 8 record at 7-1. On Jan. 30, the Bluejackets out-pointed Buffalo 143.15-133.65.

Morgan Urness hit career-bests on the Vault (9.275) and Bars (9.225), then finished with a 9.35 for her meet-high 36.65 All-Around total. Hannah Haight totaled 35.575 AA points with a personal-best 9.25 on the Floor.

Kasey Bruss sprung for a pair of ‘9s’ on the Beam and Floor against the Bison. More team highlights from the win: Kayla Rackowiecki 9.05 on the Beam; Courtney Durant 9.0 on the Bars; Kaeli Kortan 9.1 and Tori Nelson 8.95 on the Vault.

• The Bluejackets made it seven-straight M-8 wins in a row after downing Chisago Lakes 139.1-124.375 Feb. 3.

Haight marked a personal-best 9.25 on the Bars, and Urness stuck to the Beam for a 9.2, adding a 9.0 on Vault. Kortan (9.0) and Durant (8.95) put up solid scores on Vault, and Bruss led on Floors with her 8.825.
