With the regular season winding down, Cambridge-Isanti boys hockey picked up a 6-0 home win over North Branch Jan. 30.
Levi Miller and Jake Sylvester scored goals three minutes apart for a 2-0 lead in the first period. Jack Goodmanson and Austin Schlenker netted scores in the second period, then Mavrick Nelson finished off the win with two goals in the third.
Sylvester, Miller, Collin Anderson and Elliott Simon all had two assists against the Vikings. Logan Hyland made 13 saves in the nets for the shutout.
• The Bluejackets fell to host Princeton 8-2 in the annual “Blazing Blades/Rusty Skates” traveling trophy game Feb. 1.
Anderson found the net early in the first period to pull Cambridge-Isanti to within 2-1. With under six minutes to play in the period, the Bluejackets had good puck movement on a power play chance but were thwarted.
The Tigers scored the lone goal of the second on a multiple rebound shot after C-I goalie Jacob Sibell stood tall on two earlier rushes. Sylvester and Schlenker got two good shots on the Tiger net as the period waned.
Princeton added goals a minute apart for separation before Sylvester netted the Jackets’ last goal. The Tigers then finished with three unanswered goals to win going away. Sibell finished with 38 saves on the night.
The Bluejackets will host their final home games of the regular season this week against conference foes St. Francis Feb. 6 and Rogers Feb. 8.
