For many people the joy of visiting a public library may be “out of reach” either due to distance, transportation, age or physical disability.
With the East Central Regional Library van we are able to serve those people where access to any of ECRL’s 14 branch libraries is either difficult or impossible. An outreach van was purchased five years ago to replace the ECRL bookmobile when it went out of service to help meet the needs of those individuals.
Beginning the week of Feb. 3, ECRL Outreach Services will begin its first major schedule change in fice years. Service in Askov will be discontinued since no patrons came to the stop anymore. All current outreach stops will either change the day, time or length of their stops starting in February. The new schedule is being implemented based on an evaluation of the number of patrons visiting each outreach stop and the number of items being checked out at each stop. The changes were approved Dec. 16 by the ECRL Board and will be re-evaluated after six months.
The Outreach stop in Isanti will now be open from noon to 4 p.m. starting Feb. 5 instead of 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The last day of the 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. hours will be Wednesday, Jan. 29. The Outreach stop is at Isanti City Hall.
Meanwhile the Outreach stop in Braham will move to the new Braham Community Center from Braham City Hall. It will also move from every other Thursday at 3 p.m. to every Monday afternoon from 12:30-4:30 p.m. starting Monday, Feb. 3. The last Thursday stop will be Thursday, Jan. 23.
Patrons may request specific items at any time from the Outreach Librarian at Isanti and Braham plus ask about digital services including downloadable eBooks, eAudio and magazines. They will be happy to assist you with those questions. You may also email the Outreach Librarian at [email protected] ecrlib.org or call 763-6897390 x21 for assistance with placing a hold on an item, a reference question, etc.
