Gymnasts stay in conference hunt

The Cambridge-Isanti gymnasts posted a 142.325-129-35 home win over St. Michael-Albertville, keeping them near the top of the Mississippi 8 standings. The Bluejackets recently moved up to the No. 7 slot in the latest MGCA Class AA poll.

Hannah Haight took first place in All-Around points with 35.15, highlighted by a 9.3 on the Beam and a 9.05 on the Bars. Tori Nelson was 2nd in AA points with 34.35 after leading the Bluejackets on the Vault with a 9.1.

Morgan Urness worked for the team’s highest event score on the evening when she won the Beam with a 9.425. Kasey Bruss added a 9.375, and MollyAnn Harvey scored a 9.1 as the Jackets put up their highest team total on the Beam this season.

Harvey (9.05), Urness (9.0) and Courtney Durant (8.85) swung to high scores on the Bars. Durant was 2nd to Nelson on the Vault with her 8.9.

This Saturday, gymnasts from 10 other schools will compete with the C-I girls at the annual Bluejacket All-Around at CIHS.
