The Cambridge-Isanti boys swim & dive squad will host its annual Bluejacket Invite on Saturday, with action beginning at 1 p.m.

Competing against the C-I boys will be Section 7AA partners Coon Rapids, Duluth East and Forest Lake, along with Champlin Park, Chisago Lakes, Duluth Marshall, Elk River, Princeton and Superior, Wis.

• In their lone action last week, the Bluejackets’ Mississippi 8 dual meet record dipped to 0-3 with a 102-84 loss at Princeton Jan. 16. C-I’s first win of the meet came when Alex Heinen swam a 2:08.3 in the 200 Freestyle. Peter Edblad (2:35.7) and Thomas Cameron (2:37.1) followed with a 2nd and 3rd in the 200 IM, and John Solberg (23.5) had a close 2nd in the 50 Freestyle.

Divers Parker Brown (234.2) and Cody Hemmelgarn (205.8) swept the top two spots off the board to keep the Jackets tight. George Grandgenett was 3rd in the 100 Butterfly (1:09.8), and Solberg was 2nd in the 100 Free (54.6). C-I’s Josh Minnihan (5:35.1), Heinen (5:41.9) and Joe Lind (5:53.9) then took the top three spots in the 500 Freestyle to pull the Jackets to within 65-61, but the Tigers answered with wins in the 200 Free Relay and the 100 Backstroke to create a larger lead again.

C-I’ junior Alex Heinen churned the water while winning the 200 Freestyle at the Jan. 16 meet at Princeton. Heinen was 2nd to teammate Josh Minnihan in the 500 Free that evening.
