CIMPC girls earn two victories

Cambridge-Isanti-Mora-Pine City girls hockey earned a 2-1 win over visiting Pequot Lakes Jan. 9 when Abby Haug stopped 20 shots for the win in the nets. Goals by Jordan Ramey and Kassidy Westrom had the Bluejackets up 2-0 early in the second period.

• The Bluejackets made it two wins in a row after downing host Willmar 5-3 on Saturday. Katie Carlson’s goal cut the Cardinals’ lead to 2-1 in the first period. Ramey, Ally Neibur and Kylie Guimont  scored goals over a four-minute span to create a CIMPC advantage in the second period, and Kristen Eustice added an empty-netter for insurance. Haug had 23 more saves for the Jackets, and both Ramey and Maria Carpenter led with two assists.

• At home Jan. 14, the Bluejackets were shut out by North Wright County 5-0.

The host Saints led 5-0 after the first period and upped it to 7-0 before Mike Nolt put the Bluejackets on the board in a Jan. 11 conference game at East Bethel.
