SPORTS ROUND-UP:   The Cambridge-Isanti gymnasts kept moving up the scoring ladder by totaling 140.05 points to place 5th at last Saturday’s Faribault Invite. Class AA power Northfield won the 15-team invite with 150.45 points, while C-I’s Section 7AA partner Forest Lake was 9th at 133.15.

Morgan Urness recorded a career-best 9.45 to place 3rd on the Beam, and she added a 9.05 on the Vault amid her team-high 35.1 All-Around total. Hannah Haight placed 7th on the Bars with a personal-best 9.2 after sticking a PB 8.7 on the Vault. Also garnering personal-bests at Faribault were MollyAnn Harvey on the Beam (8.95) and Courtney Durant on the Bars (8.65).

More high scores for C-I came from Tori Nelson (8.95 on the Vault), Harvey (9.0 on the Bars), Kaili Kortan (8.5 on the Vault), and Kasey Bruss (8.65 on the Floor).

The Bluejackets were rewarded for their team support with the “Team Spirit” Award at the invite.

C-I Boys Swim 7th at Panther Invite

Cambridge-Isanti finished in 7th place at the Jan. 4 Panther Invite won by host Spring Lake Park. C-I’s Mississippi 8 partners Monticello and Buffalo took 2nd and 3rd at the invite.

Parker Brown earned the top placing for the Bluejackets when he was 3rd in Diving with 384.4 points. Teammates Cody Hemmelgarn was 5th at 300.8 and Tristen Zimprich was 7th at 262.4.

John Solberg’s 4th in the 100 Butterfly (54.0) was the top C-I swimming finish at the invite, and he joined Josh Minnihan, Peter Edblad and Alex Heinen on the 6th-place 400 Freestyle Relay (3:45.2).

Minnihan added nice points by taking 6th in the 100 Butterfly (1:02.1) and 8th in the 200 IM (2:17.8). Also cracking the top-10 at the Panther Invite was the 10th-place 200 Free Relay of George Grandgenett, Jared Zacharias, Hemmelgarn and Edblad (1:44.9).

Tiger Wrestlers 9th at Mora

The Rush City-Braham wrestlers were 9th at the Jan. 4 Mora Invitational where Waconia, Annandale and Aitkin grabbed the top three spots in the standings.

Jacob Lynch, ranked 10th at Class AA 220, placed 2nd for the Tigers when St. Cloud Tech’s Voight won by fall in the bracket finals. Placing 5th for RC-B were Tyler Sitz at 126, Dominic Montgomery at 160 and Blaine Blazek at 170. Francis Loerzel (138) and Collin Yartiz (195) took 6th.
